On Tuesday, the Hopkinsville High Lady Tigers posted a 55-41 road victory over Trigg County, with junior player Kahtahvia Fleming leading the way with a triple-double performance. Despite being down by 9 points in the first half, Fleming was able to rally the team with her impressive 19 points, 12 rebounds, and ten steals. With Trigg County holding an 18-9 lead, she scored 11 points in a 15-1 Hoptown run to end the first half and had 13 points and eight rebounds by halftime. She also played a vital role in the Lady Tiger press, contributing nine steals in the second half to complete the triple-double.
Fleming has been a consistent player for the Hopkinsville team, which has had to use a variety of lineups throughout the season due to injuries and other absences. The team also welcomed back leading scorer and rebounder Shiyah Forte, who had missed three games due to injury. Forte contributed 9 points and 11 rebounds and helped spur Hoptown’s run along with Fleming.
Despite Trigg County cutting the Hoptown lead to three points twice in the fourth quarter, Hoptown ultimately secured the victory. Trigg County committed a season-high 30 turnovers that led to 25 Hoptown points. The Lady Tigers also dominated the glass, outrebounding Trigg 42-20 and limiting the Lady Wildcats to four offensive rebounds. The win marked Hopkinsville’s 14th consecutive victory over Trigg County and an overall 34-8 series lead. The team will play at Grayson County (9-11) on Saturday.
