'The b---- shot me in the back': Woman who fantasized about 'gutting' her ex like a 'deer' is sentenced for killing her current boyfriend after her self-defense claim fails

When deputies arrived to find Tyler Kinnon Nulisch, 30, dead from a bullet wound in his Florida Keys home, his killer and girlfriend, Brittany Nicole Holbrook, 35, claimed he choked her. Deputies in Monroe County, Florida, say this is not true. She had no telltale marks on her throat, they said.

On Friday, a court sentenced Holbrook to 40 years in prison for second-degree murder, according to online records. Authorities claimed she shot Nulisch in the lower back.

“The b—- shot me in the back,” he told his roommate in his final words.

In February, jurors convicted Holbrook of the killing on June 17, 2023.

According to a Fox News report from June 2023, one of Nulisch’s friends stated that Holbrook was usually friendly. The victim and killer were in love.

“Everyone saw this,” she said. “They seemed like the perfect couple.”

However, Holbrook’s behavior changed after he consumed alcohol.

“She seemed so normal most of the time, but when she drank, she’d become a monster, and a switch would flip, and she’d start screaming and throwing things and hitting Tyler,” a friend told me.

This is significant because Holbrook had been drinking with his roommate and Nulisch before the murder. The roommate went to bed, only to be woken up by Holbrook’s scream in the living room.

The other friend, Holbrook, told Fox News that he had drunk alcohol two days before the killing and was violently upset about an ex-boyfriend.

“I’m going to kill him and take a knife into his stomach and rip upward to his throat,” Holbrook allegedly said.

The friend said, “It was like she was describing gutting a deer.”

Holbrook will receive 665 days of time served credit.
