Long Work History and High Income
You must have worked in jobs covered by Social Security for at least 35 years. Also, you should have earned close to the maximum taxable income limit every year. In 2025, that limit is $176,100.
Social Security calculates your benefit based on your average indexed monthly earnings (AIME). If your income was consistently high, you could reach the top payment limit.
Serious Disability Condition
Your disability must stop you from doing substantial work. For 2025, that means:
- Earning less than $1,550/month (if not blind)
- Earning less than $2,590/month (if blind)
Also, your condition must either last at least one year or be terminal, based on SSA’s strict guidelines.
Enough Social Security Work Credits
To qualify, you usually need 40 work credits, and at least 20 of those must be recent. The exact number depends on your age when you became disabled.
When Will the Last April SSDI Group Get Paid?
There’s one more group left for April. If your birthday is after the 21st, you will receive your SSDI payment on the fourth Wednesday, which is April 23.
After this date, all April payments will be completed.
What About SSI Payments?
If you also get Supplemental Security Income (SSI), your next payment will arrive on May 1, which is a Thursday. Since it’s not a weekend or holiday, the date stays the same.
