Chelsea topped the Premier League chart with £60.4 million spent on agent fees in 2024-25

The Premier League spent more than £409 million on agent fees between 2024 and 2025, with Chelsea accounting for £60.4 million of that total.

The Football Association (FA) released data from February 2, 2024 to February 3, 2025, revealing that the National Football League spent nearly half a billion pounds on agents that year, totaling £483.6 million.

Chelsea spent £60.4 million on player representatives, nearly as much as the entire Championship, which spent £63.2 million over the same period. The Blues also led the standings last year, but have saved £14.7 million of that £75.1 million.

Manchester City were the next-biggest spenders in the Premier League, spending £52.1 million, with local rivals Manchester United trailing behind with £33 million, the third-highest figure.

In the year covered by the data, league leaders Liverpool paid £20.8 million, followed by Aston Villa (£25 million.1), Newcastle (£24.4 million), and Arsenal (£22.8 million).

Last season’s promoted clubs, Southampton, Ipswich, and Leicester, were among the lowest spenders on player representation fees, along with Everton. Ipswich spent the smallest amount in the top flight, £6.2 million, with all four clubs spending less than eight figures.

The FA data release stated that “payments included in these figures may have been made in relation to transactions that were entered into before the first date of this reporting period.

“As a result, the total payment figure per Club will not necessarily relate directly to those transactions listed involving a Football Agent registered in England for the same period.”

Leeds were the Championship’s biggest spenders, paying £8.8 million in agent fees, but the majority of the teams were more frugal, with most spending in the low millions and Burnley coming in second at £5.3 million. Oxford United spent the least, slightly more than £572,000.

The numbers, unsurprisingly, decreased significantly with each step down the pyramid, with League One spending £7.6 million on agent fees, League Two £2.7 million, and the National League slightly more than £952,000. Huddersfield (£1.1 million), Fleetwood Town (£284,000), and Forest Green Rovers (£133,000) were the top spenders in their leagues.

In contrast, the women’s game spent significantly less, with only £2.2 million paid out by Women’s Super League clubs and less than £286,000 by Women’s Championship teams.

Chelsea led the WSL standings with £622,000 in agent fees, far outpacing second-placed Manchester City’s £288,000 and third-placed Arsenal’s £220,000. Crystal Palace, the league’s bottom-ranked team, also spent the least amount of money, just under £60,000.
