On April 15, 2025, the entire Major League Baseball and its most dedicated fans will celebrate Jackie Robinson Day. On this day in 1947, the baseball legend made his Major League Baseball debut, ushering in a historical shift that continues to this day.
The San Francisco Giants are also celebrating, as they will all wear No. 42 on Tuesday night. Along with their special jerseys, the Giants will wear custom cleats that represent each team’s version of one of baseball’s most famous numbers. Every team playing on Tuesday will wear Robinson’s number to honor his legacy and influence in the league.

The jerseys will all have No. 42 printed in Los Angeles Dodger blue, which is where Robinson made his name and became an icon.
During batting practice, players will wear custom “Breaking Barriers” shirts before the game even starts. The league is dedicated to celebrating Robinson’s legacy both on and off the field, and they will continue that celebration by putting in valuable volunteer hours at the league office.
200 hygiene kits will be assembled and donated to the Henry Street Settlement to help those struggling with mental health issues.
Robinson is honored in a variety of ways across the league, including at the Jackie Robinson Museum, where MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred will be joined by a number of notable guests to learn about Robinson’s extensive legacy throughout the league.
A minor league affiliate game will also take place at the Jackie Robinson Training Complex in Vero Beach, Florida. The Palm Beach Cardinals will face the Clearwater Threshers in a game where Robinson previously played.
Holman Stadium has been open since 1953, accommodating all types of baseball games and fans.
With the opportunities for celebration provided by MLB, fans will not be short on Robinson content. As fans await the first pitch, MLB will broadcast a Robinson tribute video across multiple platforms, highlighting Robinson’s significant accomplishments on and off the field.
San Francisco is just one of the clubs planning to honor the legendary player. Every other team in the league will wear No. 42 and may even take the field in their own tribute cleats.
The Giants will continue their four-game series against the Philadelphia Phillies, hoping to advance in the NL West.
