CLEVELAND — Ohio U.S. Sen. Bernie Moreno and his wife Bridget have been ordered to testify in the ongoing divorce case between their daughter Emily and her husband, Northeast Ohio U.S. Rep. Max Miller.
Miller’s attorney, Pamela J. McAdams of Morganstern, MacAdams & DeVito Co. in Cleveland, served subpoenas against Bernie and Bridget Moreno on Monday, and 3News obtained copies. Both subpoenas were signed by State of Ohio Notary Public Elizabeth D. Shonk McManamon and requested the following from the couple:
- “Proof of any and all attorney fees paid on behalf of your daughter, Emily Moreno Miller relative to the within divorce action.”
- “Proof of the purchase and proof of payment for the real estate in which Emily Moreno Miller now resides,” with reference made to a Westlake address.
- “A paper trail of any monies transferred from you entity or trust over which you have control or interest, of monies transferred to Emily Moreno Miller in the past three (3) years.”
According to the subpoenas, Sen. Moreno’s deposition is scheduled for May 9 at noon, followed by Bridget Moreno’s testimony approximately two hours later. 3News contacted both Moreno and Miller’s offices for comment, but Miller did not address the issue during a town hall event in Strongsville Monday evening.
Miller, a Rocky River Republican who represents Ohio’s 7th Congressional District, got engaged to Emily Moreno in 2021 before marrying in 2022, the same year he was first elected to the United States House.
The couple has a young daughter together, but Miller filed for divorce from his wife in Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court late last summer, just as his father-in-law was running a successful campaign to unseat longtime Democratic incumbent Sherrod Brown from the United States Senate.
Cleveland.com, a 3News media partner, previously reported on the various accusations leveled by both parties in the months leading up to their separation.
“Bernie is very sad their marriage worked out as it did, but it’s a private family matter and he will not be making any further comments,” Sen. Moreno’s spokesperson Reagan McCarthy told the publication back in September.
