Former Fort Bend ISD teacher arrested, accused of improper relationship with student

Ara Hernandez, 31, a former teacher at Ronald Thornton Middle School in Fort Bend ISD, was arrested on February 14th and charged with two felonies: indecency with a child involving sexual contact and an improper relationship between an educator and student. Her bond has been set to $50,000.

According to Fort Bend ISD, a former student brought allegations of Hernandez’s past inappropriate behavior to the district’s attention in September.

The district immediately launched an investigation, and Hernandez was removed from the Thornton Middle School campus and placed on administrative leave until the investigation was completed.

Fort Bend ISD has stated that Hernandez will not be returning to the district.

In a letter to parents, Fort Bend ISD outlined their immediate response to the allegations.

They encourage any student, staff member, or parent who has concerns or information about inappropriate behavior to call FBISD Police at 281-634-5500 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 281-491-8477.
