The Los Angeles Dodgers are the best team in Major League Baseball, and there is still room for improvement, as several key players are close to returning from injury.
Despite having multiple pitchers out with injuries, the Dodgers have the league’s best record. Los Angeles has used its bullpen more than any other team in the league, despite having the fewest starting pitcher innings.
Rōki Sasaki, a rookie pitcher, may be left out of the rotation as Clayton Kershaw, Tyler Glasnow, and Blake Snell recover from injuries.
According to David Hill of Yardbarker, the Dodgers may demote the 23-year-old rookie due to his early-season struggles and the upcoming return of several pitchers.
“The Los Angeles Dodgers entered the 2025 season with two goals: to repeat as World Series champions and to develop Roki Sasaki at the major league level,” said Hill. “So far, so good with the first goal.
The same cannot be said for Sasaki’s move to the majors. Sasaki had shown signs of progress prior to Friday’s outing.Sasaki may not be dominant, but he has improved with each start. Friday was a step backward.”
“Time is not on Sasaki’s side.” The Dodgers’ pitching staff will soon welcome back key members of their rotation.
Meanwhile, Los Angeles will try to hold off the San Diego Padres and San Francisco Giants for the NL West title. Unless Sasaki and the Dodgers can resolve his fastball issues, he may be sent to the minors.”
Sasaki has a 4.72 ERA in his first eight career starts, with 24 strikeouts and 22 walks. He has been struggling with velocity issues with his fastball, allowing a home run in each of his last five appearances.
Though Sasaki was a highly touted prospect, the young pitcher may need more time in the minors to develop as the Dodgers’ pitching staff improves.
