"Left … the same way he had entered": Police claim that a man enters his ex-girlfriend's home via a "dog door" and gets into her bed while she is asleep

A Florida man was caught lying in bed with his sleeping ex-girlfriend after breaking into her home through a “dog door,” which he also exited through after being nailed in the nose by the victim with an elbow, according to police.

Caelan Ross, 26, is charged with burglary and assault for an alleged break-in on Sunday, May 4, in Escambia County, according to his arrest report, which Law&Crime has reviewed.

Authorities say Ross was apprehended by the victim after she awoke in her room to find him lying in bed next to her.

He allegedly attacked the woman after she told him to leave, causing her to throw an elbow, according to the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office arrest report.

“[The victim] stated she woke up in her room to see her ex-boyfriend, Caelan Ross, lying in her bed next to her,” according to an arrest report. “[The victim] stood up and turned on the room light.

[The victim] and Ross had a brief conversation, which concluded with [the victim] telling Ross to leave. Ross refused, grabbing [the victim] by the wrist and throwing her onto the bed.”

Ross allegedly jumped on top of the woman, who began to struggle, elbowing him in the process. “Ross then left the residence the same way he had entered, which was through the large dog door at the front of the residence,” according to the charge report.

The victim “appeared to be upset about the situation” and told police she wanted to file charges, according to the report.

Police were called to the scene, but they couldn’t find Ross right away.

A Toyota Tacoma registered in his name was allegedly found at the victim’s residence. Ross returned and was seen driving away in his vehicle shortly after, according to police.

Ross was eventually apprehended and taken into custody. He is being held at the Escambia County Jail on a $75,000 bond.
