In a terrifying crash in Finland, five people are killed after helicopters collide, with one of them "dropping like a stone"

Five people died when two helicopters collided in Finland.

One of the helicopters reportedly “dropped like a stone” as they spiraled out of control.

Police reported that two helicopters collided and crashed in a wooded area near Eura airport around 12pm.

Terrified bystanders watched as the choppers fell 600 feet from the sky into the nearby woodland.

The helicopters reportedly took off from Estonia and were en route to an aviation event.

Flight tracking data revealed that the aircraft flew closely together for the majority of their journey.

However, at around 12:30pm, both helicopters mysteriously vanished from radar near Eura Airport.

Shortly after disappearing, they were seen colliding in a horrific crash that killed everyone on board.

One witness, Antti Marjanen, saw the helicopters collide during a manoeuvre.

Marjanen told Finnish media outlet Iltalehti, “One of them fell like a stone, the other more slowly.

“I didn’t hear any sound.”

Emergency crews rushed to the scene, where they discovered the two helicopters 300 feet apart.

According to National Bureau of Investigation Detective Chief Inspector Johannes Siirilä, five people lost their lives in a helicopter accident near Eura airport on Saturday.

The Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed to public broadcaster ERR that everyone on the helicopters died.

The passengers’ identities are unknown, but it is believed that one of the pilots was well-known Estonian entrepreneur, Oleg Sõnajalg.

Organisers at Piikajärvi Airfield confirmed that the two helicopters would be present at the aviation event.

Ari Pullinen, Chairman of the Pori Aviation Club, stated: “We were aware they were on their way. Some others arrived, but some did not.”

Three people were killed after a medical helicopter carrying a patient crashed into the sea in Japan.

The coastguard rescued three more people, including the pilot, nurse, and helicopter mechanic, and rushed them to the hospital.
