The Minnesota Twins continued their winning streak on Saturday, defeating the Milwaukee Brewers 7-0. While the Twins’ current winning streak is the longest in Major League Baseball this season, it is not the longest in team history, dating back to 1961 when the franchise moved to Minnesota.
That record belongs to the 1991 Twins, who won 15 games in a row before winning the World Series that year. However, the 2025 Twins can claim their own franchise record: they have pitched 33 consecutive scoreless innings. (They had three longer shutout streaks when they were the Washington Senators, the most recent of which occurred in 1913.
The Twins have not allowed a run since giving up six in the third inning of an 8-6 win over Baltimore in the second game of a doubleheader on Wednesday.
Milwaukee has been shut out in four of its last five games, which is a first in franchise history, according to Sportradar. According to Sportradar, the last team to be shut out four times in five games was the Miami Marlins in July 2022.
On Saturday, Ryan Jeffers went 4-for-5 with a homer and a double, and Kody Clemens went 3-for-5 with a homer to lead the Twins to 18 hits.
Twins starter Pablo Lopez and three relievers combined for a three-hitter. López (4-2) pitched six innings, striking out six and allowing two hits and two walks. Justin Topa, Jorge Alcala, and Kody Funderburk each pitched a single inning of relief.
The Twins took control of the game after scoring one run in each of the first six innings. Tobias Myers, who was demoted earlier this week but was called back up when left-hander Jose Quintana was injured, accounted for four of those runs.
With one out in the first inning, Jeffers connected on a 420-foot shot to left center. He also doubled and scored in the third inning, singled in the fourth, and singled in the eighth.
This is the Twins’ second consecutive year with a winning streak of at least 12 games.
They are the first MLB team to win at least 12 straight games in consecutive seasons since Cleveland in 2016-17. The only other team from one of the men’s major sports leagues (MLB, NBA, NFL, NHL) to achieve that feat is the NBA’s Golden State Warriors, who had such streaks in 2014-15, 2015-16, and 2016-17.
Each of the last two years, the Twins have used a lengthy winning streak to recover from a slow start.
Last year, the Twins started 7-13 before going on a 12-game winning streak, but they missed the playoffs after losing seven of their last eight. This season, the Twins went 13-20 before winning 13 straight.
