After allegedly shooting at his own sons during a fight over a family car, a man from Florida was charged with multiple felonies.
According to authorities, Christopher Lee Brown, 36, shot his three sons, all of whom are minors, and was taken into custody on Sunday.
At approximately 11:15 a.m. on Sunday, Hillsborough County Sheriff’s deputies responded to reports of a shooting in Brown’s Ruskin neighborhood, according to court documents that local Fox affiliate WTVT was able to obtain.
Deputies discovered that all three of Brown’s sons had been shot when they arrived on the scene.
All three boys survived after being transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. They did not disclose their names or ages.
Detectives who looked into the shooting claimed in the documents that the altercation started over a disagreement over a car.
According to the police, Brown allegedly confronted his sons about it, and the argument got out of hand before all three boys were allegedly shot.
According to WTVT, Brown allegedly struck one of the boys in the head with the gun, setting it off and causing a bullet to strike the boy’s earlobe and cross his jawline.
According to reports, the other two boys followed Brown as he fled to get into his car. The documents then claim that Brown shot the other two boys multiple times.
According to court documents, one of the boys also played a recording that their father had left behind following the alleged shooting, in which he said, “I tried to take your life,” and “You won’t make it to Wednesday.”
The state attorney’s office has filed a pretrial motion to hold Brown in custody pending trial, according to WTVT.
Three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, two counts of attempted first-degree murder with a firearm, three counts of aggravated battery with great bodily harm or deadly weapon, being a felon in possession of a firearm, two counts of burglary of an occupied dwelling, resisting an officer without using violence, and criminal mischief (more than $200, less than $1,000) are among the many felony charges that Brown is currently facing.
