A woman who was clinically dead for eight minutes has revealed her extraordinary experience, boldly claiming that death is an illusion.
Brianna Lafferty, a 33-year-old Colorado resident suffering from myoclonus dystonia, a life-threatening neurological disorder, once reached a point where her body “gave up” and was declared clinically dead.
She recalls hearing a voice asking if she was prepared, followed by complete darkness. According to the Daily Star, her soul then “floated” above her body, entering a timeless realm.
Brianna described her experience: “I was abruptly separated from my physical body. I didn’t recognize or remember my human self. I was completely still, but I felt more alive, aware, and like myself than ever before.
“There was no pain, just a profound sense of calm and clarity. This separation from my physical form made me realise how fleeting and fragile the human experience is. There is a presence, or intelligence, greater than ourselves that guides and protects us with unconditional love.
“Everything happened at once, as if time did not exist, but there was perfect order. I witnessed the beginning of everything and discovered that our universe is made up of a collection of numbers.
“I encountered other beings who I’m not sure were human, but they seemed familiar. It altered the course of my life; what I feared no longer held sway over me, and what I used to pursue no longer seemed relevant. I returned with a sense of purpose and profound respect for both life and death.”
Brianna’s encounter has left her with a strong conviction that “consciousness remains alive” after death, undergoing only a form change.
She went on to say, “My thoughts instantly manifested in the afterlife. I’ve noticed that our thoughts create reality there; all it takes is time, which is a blessing.
“We can turn our negativity into positivity, making this a reality. I feel empowered and confident in life’s events, particularly the difficult ones.”
Reflecting on her journey, she understood why she faced illness and other challenges. She has adopted the philosophy that everything happens for a reason, choosing to go with the flow of life rather than become angry or upset when faced with adversity.
Brianna has faced both a profound mental shift and the tangible challenges of physically recovering from her ordeal, such as relearning basic functions like walking and talking.
She revealed: “I’ve also had long-term side effects and damage to my pituitary gland, which I had experimental brain surgery to treat – and it has been a success thus far. I am a little afraid of having another near-death experience because the recovery is difficult.”
