The New York Liberty remain unbeaten.
On Saturday, New York narrowly defeated the Indiana Fever 90-88 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.
Caitlin Clark’s 3-point shooting slump continued after she went 0-for-7 from deep. However, shots began to fall when she converted a triple through contact at the 1:04 mark of the third quarter for a four-point play and a deep buzzer-beater to end the quarter, a 34-footer that was her deepest shot of the season.
Indiana led by 12 points heading into the fourth quarter, but a Liberty run cut the lead to 82-81 with 5:33 remaining.
Liberty guard Sabrina Ionescu drew a foul with 2.9 seconds left and made two free throws, giving New York a small lead. However, the Fever still had the opportunity to tie or win the game.
However, Clark was stripped by Natasha Cloud before she could take a final shot, giving New York the victory.
Jonquel Jones led the Liberty with 26 points and 12 rebounds, marking her 25th career game of at least 20 points and 10 rebounds.
Aliyah Boston finished with an impressive 27 points and 13 rebounds. Clark finished with 18 points, 10 assists, and ten turnovers. Clark now has three career games with nine or more turnovers, tying Betty Lennox for the most in WNBA history.
New York has scored at least 90 points in each of its three games this season. It is the second team in WNBA history to start a season with three straight 90-point games. The Las Vegas Aces are the only other team to win five straight games.
