White House slams Jill Biden for Joe Biden's health 'cover-up'

On Thursday, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt attacked former First Lady Jill Biden over allegations that people close to then-President Biden intentionally kept information about his health issues hidden.

Republicans are calling on two dozen former senior Biden administration officials to testify before the Senate and answer questions about the former president’s health, following allegations that the White House purposefully concealed his cognitive and physical decline.

In the White House briefing on Thursday, Fox News’ Peter Doocy asked Leavitt if President Trump is satisfied with the former president’s aides sitting for the interviews or if he would like to see testimony from the former first lady.

“Frankly, the former first lady should certainly speak out about what we saw with her husband, when she saw it, and what she knew.

Because I believe that anyone who looks at the videos and photos of Joe Biden with their own eyes and a little common sense can see that this is a clear cover-up, and Jill Biden was certainly complicit in that cover-up,” Leavitt said.

She mentioned that the Bidens appeared on ABC’s “The View” recently, where they denied allegations that the former president’s mental acuity deteriorated near the end of his term.

“She’s still lying to the American people,” Leavitt said Thursday. “And frankly, it’s insulting and she needs to answer for it.”

Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.), chair of the Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations, sent letters last week requesting testimony from former Vice President Kamala Harris, Cabinet officials such as former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, and Biden’s former chief of staff Jeff Zients.

Johnson stated that if his invitations are ignored, he will consider issuing subpoenas.

Questions about the true extent of Biden’s health problems have been fueled by reporting in a new book by CNN’s Jake Tapper and Axios’ Alex Thompson, which revealed concerns from senior White House aides such as whether Biden would require a wheelchair if reelected.

Biden’s office also recently announced that the former president has been diagnosed with advanced prostate cancer.

After experiencing increasing urinary symptoms, doctors diagnosed Biden with a prostate nodule, which later turned out to be cancer that had metastasized to his bones.
