An investigation is underway following a fatal shooting at a motel near the East Freeway on Saturday.
The Houston Police Department reported that a man in his twenties who was loitering was shot and killed at the Red Roof Inn near Centerwood.
Witnesses told HPD that around 1:30 a.m., an argument broke out, followed by gunfire.
Police said a man in his 50s or 60s was detained for questioning and is claiming self-defense.
Authorities initially told Eyewitness News that they expected the case to go to a grand jury, but they are now waiting to see what charges will be filed while they continue to investigate.
