A Florida man was accused of stalking his estranged wife and assaulting the man she had moved on with.
Andres Felipe Dorado, 39, was arrested on May 22 and charged with aggravated battery with a weapon resulting in great bodily harm, criminal mischief, and installing a tracking device without consent.
According to court records obtained by WTVJ, a local NBC affiliate, Dorado allegedly arrived at a Miami hotel where his wife, whom he had been separated from for three months, was staying with her new boyfriend.
That day, officers responded to calls from the hotel about a man who refused to leave and was acting violently.
According to the records, Dorado’s wife allegedly told police that, while she and her husband were still married and had a child, she had started a “sexual relationship” with someone else after the couple separated.
When he arrived at the hotel, he allegedly demanded that she come down to see him and accused her of cheating on him.
Dorado’s wife told police that she and the other man agreed to his demands and went down to the hotel lobby, where Dorado allegedly punched him and cut his arm.
Police said they discovered a knife in Dorado’s vehicle.
After Dorado was arrested, his wife told police that she recently discovered an Apple AirTag in her vehicle, under the passenger seat.
After conducting her own investigation, she allegedly discovered that the device was registered to her estranged husband. She clarified that she did not agree to have the device installed in her vehicle.
According to court records, when police arrived, Dorado fled the hotel carrying a black object.
Dorado was booked into jail on a $7,650 bond, which he later paid. He appeared in court on Friday before Judge Mindy Glazer, who issued a stay-away order for both Dorado’s wife and her “new friend.”
His next court appearance is set for June 20.
