    Caudill’s Athletes Rack Up at Regionals

    The Hoptown Track and Field teams looked phenomenal today at the Class 2A Regional Track and Field competition, with the women’s team securing an impressive 2nd place finish and the men’s team coming in 4th. Under the expert guidance of Coach Jessica Caudill, these athletes have demonstrated their incredible talent and determination, earning spots at the upcoming state competition.

    The following standout students will be moving on to the state competition:

    • 1st place in the Boys 110 Meter Hurdles: Ian Rossario Alicea
    • 1st place Boys 4×200 Meter Relay: Ian Rossario Alicea, Treston Kay, Keyshun Teal, Gavin Alston, Iriel Leak, James Bradley, Elijah Reid, Tavares Burgess
    • 1st place Girls 400 Meter Dash: Grace Cansler
    • 1st place Girls 300 Meter Hurdles: Anarria Settles
    • 1st place Boys 300 Meter Hurdles: Ian Rossario Alicea
    • 2nd place Girls 4×400 Meter Relay: Ollia Dixon, Amaya Burse, Grace Cansler, Anarria Settles, Kaniya Jackson-Grundy
    • 2nd place Boys Discus Throw: Davian Simon

    The women’s team, known for their relentless determination, excelled across various events, from sprints to hurdles and relays. Grace Cansler’s victory in the 400-meter dash and Anarria Settles’ win in the 300-meter hurdles were particularly noteworthy. The 4×400 relay team, consisting of Ollia Dixon, Amaya Burse, Grace Cansler, Anarria Settles, and Kaniya Jackson-Grundy, also delivered a stellar performance, earning 2nd place.

    On the men’s side, Ian Rossario Alicea was a standout performer, clinching 1st place in both the 110-meter hurdles and the 300-meter hurdles. The boys’ 4×200 meter relay team, featuring Ian Rossario Alicea, Treston Kay, Keyshun Teal, Gavin Alston, Iriel Leak, James Bradley, Elijah Reid, and Tavares Burgess, dominated their event, securing 1st place. Davian Simon also made a significant impact with his 2nd place finish in the discus throw.

    The outstanding achievements at the regional competition highlight the strength and depth of the Hopkinsville High School athletic program. As these athletes move on to the state competition, the school community stands behind them, eager to see their continued success.
