Lady Tigers Lose District battle to cross-town Colonels

The Christian County Lady Colonels proved to be the top seed in the 8th District basketball race as they dominated Hopkinsville with a 56-24 win on Saturday afternoon. This marks the first time Christian County has posted consecutive wins over Hopkinsville in two years. The 32-point margin of victory is the largest for Christian County over Hopkinsville since 2010.

Despite their determination, the Lady Tigers found it challenging to overcome the absence of starters Forte and Dansbury and the experience of the Colonels’ team. The Colonels’ strong defensive effort made it difficult for the Lady Tigers. The pressure forced Hopkinsville to commit 20 turnovers in the first half of play.

The Lady Colonels pushed the lead to 21 points in the first half and then went on a 21-4 run in the third quarter to trigger the running clock for the remainder of the game. Hopkinsville’s Taria Sharber led the Lady Tigers with a solid 8 points and 8 rebounds. Hopkinsville will now look to get healthy ahead of their next district game at Fort Campbell, where they have won 36 straight games dating back to 2005.
