Hopkinsville’s Lady Tigers’ basketball team performed on a dominant level Monday, earning their first district win and breaking a six-game losing streak. The 52-2 win against Fort Campbell marked their 37th consecutive win in the series dating back to 2005.
The young team, led by Taria Sharber with 14 points and six rebounds, and Kahtahvia Fleming with 12 points, jumped out to a commanding 40-0 lead by halftime. The second half was played with shortened quarters, with Ariana McDaniel of Fort Campbell breaking Hopkinsville’s run with a free throw in the third quarter.
The Lady Tigers secured the victory thanks to their impressive shooting, making 24 out of 58 shots. Despite being a young team, they have demonstrated their potential for future success as they continue to develop. With a win over UHA on February 1st, the team can secure the 2nd seed in the district.
Up next, the Lady Tigers will host Clarksville Northeast on Saturday. The game begins at 4:30 pm at Tiger Gym. Make sure you plan on making out to support our Lady Tigers.
