Tiger Baseball Changing of the Guard

Hopkinsville High School Athletic Director Blake Leach recently announced the departure of Coach David Weber from his position as head coach of the Tiger baseball team. While change can sometimes be bittersweet, this transition opens up exciting opportunities for Coach Weber and the future of the baseball program at Hopkinsville High School.

Coach Weber, who led the Tigers for two successful seasons, expressed his gratitude to Hopkinsville High School and all those who contributed to his memorable tenure. “Thank you, Hopkinsville High School, from the bottom of my heart. You all will be deeply missed,” shared Coach Weber. He acknowledged the incredible support he received from the student-athletes, parents, staff, and administration, extending a special thank you to Blake Leach for entrusting him with the program. Coach Weber’s departure marks a new chapter in his coaching journey as he pursues an opportunity closer to his childhood home.

Reflecting on Coach Weber’s impact, HHS Principal Cindy Campbell sincerely appreciated his dedication to the baseball program and the entire HHS student body. “We appreciate Coach Weber’s impact and influence on our HHS baseball program and its players,” said Principal Campbell. She wished Coach Weber and his family all the best, confident in their bright and prosperous future.

Following Coach Weber’s resignation, Hopkinsville High School wasted no time ensuring a smooth transition by appointing Malcolm Tipler as the interim HHS Baseball Coach. Tipler, a distinguished alumnus of Chester County High School and a recent graduate of Austin Peay State University brings a wealth of experience as a former five-year starter for the Governors. Overjoyed by the opportunity, Coach Tipler expressed his gratitude and excitement for his new role. “First, I want to thank God for this opportunity because, without him, nothing is possible,” he said. Tipler acknowledged the significant impact of his family and credited Coach Weber for his instrumental role in his growth as a player during his time at Austin Peay and his development as a coach. He eagerly anticipates living his dream as the Head Baseball Coach at Hopkinsville High School.

Principal Campbell shared the enthusiasm, stating, “We are also very excited to name Coach Tipler as the interim HHS Baseball Head Coach.” She commended Tipler as a current HHS baseball assistant coach for his abilities and talents. She admired his willingness to step into the role immediately, ensuring a seamless continuation of the program’s progress. This appointment provides stability and continuity for the student-athletes and promises a bright future for Hopkinsville High School baseball.

As the Tigers embark on this new chapter, the Hopkinsville community eagerly anticipates the positive impact Coach Tipler will have as he leads the team. The school administration and fans are confident that his passion, knowledge, and commitment will propel the baseball program to new heights, instilling valuable lessons and fostering growth among the student-athletes.

Change can bring new opportunities and fresh perspectives. Hopkinsville High School bids farewell to Coach Weber with deep gratitude for his contributions and welcomes Coach Tipler as he steps up to the challenge.
