A Hopkinsville native and an alumnus of the very program he will now lead, Coach Lopez brings not only an impressive legacy as a former player but also a wealth of experience from his ten-year tenure as an assistant coach for the Tigers.

Coach Lopez’s journey is a testament to dedication and passion. Following a stellar playing career at Hopkinsville High, he honed his skills and leadership at Minnesota West Community College, earning the title of Junior College All-American Honorable Mention. His journey continued at the University of Memphis, where he showcased his talent in 18 of 31 games from 2004 to 2006. Lopez’s passion for football didn’t stop there; he went on to play three years of Arena Football for three different teams, further broadening his understanding of the game.
With 16 years of coaching experience under his belt, including recognition as the Metro-Nashville Assistant Coach of the Year in 2015 and numerous appearances in district, regional, and state tournaments, Coach Lopez is poised to steer the Hopkinsville High football program to new heights. His vision extends beyond the field, aiming to inspire greatness in his players academically and athletically.
Reflecting on his new role, Coach Lopez shared, “It has been a dream of mine since I graduated HS to one day get an opportunity to be a Head Coach. To do it at a place as special to me as Hopkinsville is truly amazing. I am so honored to lead this historic program with such a rich tradition and proud alumni base.”
