Hopkinsville, KY – April 8, 2025 – Mother Nature has thrown a curveball at the Region 2 All ‘A’ baseball and softball tournaments, forcing a one-day delay due to soggy field conditions caused by persistent rain over the weekend.
Originally set to kick off today, the tournaments will now begin Wednesday, April 9, giving the fields a chance to dry out and ensuring safer play for athletes. University Heights Academy (UHA) is hosting the baseball tournament and will be the site of Wednesday’s opening game.
The headliner? A local clash between Heritage Christian Academy (HCA) and the UHA Blazers at 6:00 PM. UHA enters the matchup with a 4-3 record (2-0 in District 8), while HCA looks to bounce back from a 2-4 start to their season. Catch the action live on 95.3 The Farm, with pregame coverage starting at 5:45 PM.
The winner of that contest will move on to face Crittenden County in the semifinals, with date and time details expected soon from UHA officials.
Other first-round baseball games, also delayed, include:
- Fort Campbell at Caldwell County
- Livingston Central vs. Lyon County (to be played in Princeton)
Start times for those matchups are still pending.
Softball Tournament Also Set to Start Wednesday
The All ‘A’ Region softball tournament will now get underway Wednesday as well, with UHA taking on Caldwell County at 5:30 PM. UHA’s Lady Blazers (2-3) look to snap back after a loss to HCA back on March 27. Caldwell County comes in at 3-4 on the season.
One notable absence this year: Heritage Christian Academy will not compete in the softball bracket. HCA head coach Ashley Tejada confirmed the school couldn’t field a team this week due to senior players being away on a trip.
Other first-round softball matchups rescheduled for Wednesday:
- Crittenden County at Livingston Central
- Fort Campbell at Lyon County
Organizers remain hopeful the remainder of the week will bring better weather, allowing both tournaments to proceed smoothly. Stay tuned for additional updates on game times and future rounds as details are confirmed.
