A shooting occurred early Sunday morning in Oak Grove, killing two men.

According to Oak Grove Police, a 911 hang-up at around 2 a.m. prompted them to visit the home on Arkansas Avenue. Soon after arriving, officers heard a gunshot and discovered the body of 27-year-old Gage Gilbert inside.

They also discovered a second person, described as armed and injured, inside the house. That person, later identified as 35-year-old Michael Johnson, was said to have barricaded himself in his room.

Police attempted to negotiate with Johnson, but to no avail.

As Oak Grove officers entered the home, Christian County Sheriff’s deputies and Hopkinsville Police officers joined them. They also found Johnson, who was deceased. There are indications that his death was caused by a self-inflicted wound.

The possible murder-suicide is still being investigated.
