KENTUCKY — A routine traffic stop in Boyd County resulted in the arrest of two people and the seizure of over $6,500 in illegal drugs, according to the Boyd County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies stopped a vehicle late Monday night around 10:50 p.m. in Ashland’s 3800 block of 13th Street. During the stop, a passenger fled on foot.

After a brief chase, deputies apprehended the suspect, 38-year-old Lajuan Wilkerson of Ashland.

According to authorities, Wilkerson was carrying drugs when he was arrested and had several outstanding warrants.

A search of the vehicle turned up methamphetamine, fentanyl, cocaine, and crack cocaine. The drugs had an estimated street value of more than $6,500.

Wilkerson and the driver, Amber Clark, 46, of Bartlett, Illinois, were arrested and charged with drug trafficking. They are being held in the Boyd County Detention Center.
