The Premier League continues to provide twists and turns, and there will undoubtedly be more before the season ends.
Liverpool is getting closer to clinching the title, Newcastle United has risen up the table, Nottingham Forest has been dragged deeper into the race for Champions League spots, and Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur remain in the bottom half.
There’s a blessing and a curse in store for Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers this week, with four teams having a double gameweek before all having blanks the next, but don’t worry, we’ve got you covered.
Before each FPL Gameweek, we’ll keep you up to date on everything that’s going on, including injury news, suspensions, who’s playing who, and our in-depth analysis of what you should be considering.
Here’s indy100’s preview of FPL Gameweek 33.
FPL gameweek 33 picks – what to think about
There will be a lot to consider over the next few gameweeks because four teams will play twice this week before not playing at all the following week.
This applies to the teams Arsenal, Aston Villa, Crystal Palace, and Manchester City. Managers may consider capitalising on assets from these four clubs this week before switching them out the following week with a wildcard or free hit.
Banking some transfers to cover the subsequent blank gameweek could also be an option. This can then help to account for the run in. If the assistant manager chip is not in action this gameweek, it may be time to use bench boost if it has not already been used.
As a reminder, the assistant manager chip is now available, and managers are worth between £0.5m and £1.5m, so players should budget accordingly.
According to the Premier League table, Liverpool’s next game is away to Leicester City, but they do not have another green gameweek for the rest of the season.
The FPL has four difficulty rankings for fixtures: green (2) is the ‘easiest’, followed by neutral (3), light red (4), and dark red (5), as referred to in this analysis.
Arsenal travel to Ipswich Town before hosting Crystal Palace in their double gameweek, followed by a blank. Keep in mind that the Gunners could prioritize the Champions League after reaching the semi-finals with games against PSG on April 29 and May 7, and they could rotate in the league.
Newcastle United are the form team, having won their last five league games in a row. They have a green and two neutrals in their next three games before a difficult finish to the season. Nottingham Forest have lost their last two games, but the Reds do not face a top-10 team until the final day against Chelsea.
Manchester City will play Everton before hosting Aston Villa in a blank gameweek. City do not have another red fixture this season, and with Erling Haaland currently out, Omar Marmoush could be an option up front. Chelsea has a difficult run in.
Aston Villa will host the in-form Magpies before traveling to Manchester City for a double gameweek before a blank. Bournemouth has a tough schedule as well.
Fulham remain there or thereabouts, and after hosting Chelsea in GW33, they have two greens and two neutrals in their next four. Brighton has not won in four games, but their record is similar to Fulham’s.
Brentford have a relatively easy run in, with only one red fixture remaining, and Bryan Mbuemo and Yoane Wissa should both be considered depending on budget. Crystal Palace host Bournemouth before visiting Arsenal in a double gameweek, followed by a blank, but the Eagles have conceded ten goals in their last two games.
Everton has a difficult two games at home against Manchester City before travelling to Chelsea. Manchester United has two green and two neutral fixtures, while Tottenham have two difficult home games against Nottingham Forest before traveling to Liverpool.
Wolves, who recently won four Premier League games for the first time in their history, will look to extend their winning streak at Manchester United and at home against Leicester City in the next two games.
Matheus Cunha impressed during his return from suspension and could be a strong option for the remainder of the season. West Ham United has a fairly favorable schedule, with no red fixtures remaining.
Ipswich Town host Arsenal before travelling to Newcastle United, Leicester City host Liverpool before having three gameweeks in their next four, and Southampton have two green and one neutral in their next three games.
