- Those who also get Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
- Residents living outside the United States
- Beneficiaries who have their Medicare premiums paid by the state
If you fall into one of these groups, your payment was already sent on April 3.
Average and Maximum SSDI Benefits in April 2025
In April 2025, the average SSDI payment for disabled workers is $1,580. If you have a spouse or children, you may receive around $2,826 per month. The maximum possible benefit is $4,018 per month. This increase comes after a 2.5% cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) that started in January 2025.
What Time Are SSDI Payments Deposited?
SSDI payments are sent by direct deposit starting at 12:01 a.m. on your payment day. If you receive a paper check instead, it could take up to three business days to reach you by mail.
If your payment is delayed, the SSA suggests first checking with your bank. If there’s still a problem, call SSA at 1-800-772-1213 or TTY 1-800-325-0778.
SSI and VA Benefit Payment Schedule
If you get both SSDI and SSI, your SSI payment is sent on the 3rd of each month. Since April 3 was a weekday, that payment has already been made. But next month, May 3 falls on a Saturday. So, the next SSI payment will arrive earlier—on Friday, May 2.
For people getting Veterans Affairs (VA) benefits, payments are sent on the 1st of every month. The next VA benefit will come on May 1, 2025.
What to Do If You Don’t Get Your SSDI Payment
If you haven’t received your SSDI payment after three business days from the due date, the SSA recommends contacting them. You can call, use the Login.gov portal, or visit a local SSA office to report the issue.
