TAMPA, Fla. – Jazz Chisholm Jr. has decided to keep the argument going.

On Friday, the Yankees’ second baseman filed an appeal against a one-game suspension and fine imposed by Major League Baseball following Chisholm Jr.’s ejection from Thursday night’s game.

During the Yankees’ eventual 6-3 victory over the Tampa Bay Rays at Steinbrenner Field, Chisholm Jr. fired off a now-deleted social media post criticizing plate umpire John Bacon.

Players are not allowed to use electronic devices during games. When asked about those actions after the game, Chisholm Jr. responded, “I don’t care. “I did what I did.”

According to a statement released by Michael Hill, MLB’s senior vice president of on-field operations, Chisholm Jr. was suspended for one game and fined “for his conduct, including a violation of MLB’s Social Media Policy for Major League Players.”

Chisholm Jr. was not immediately available for comment following the MLB announcement. He batted fifth and played second base against the Rays on Friday night.

Bacon became agitated after a third strike call against Chisholm Jr. in the seventh inning, prompting manager Aaron Boone to intervene.

“Look, I think Jazz…has had his fair share of ejections in his career (but) he’s gotten a lot better,” Boone said before Friday’s game, which marked Chisholm Jr.’s first since being traded to the Yankees last summer.

“He understands that he needs to be better in those moments, and he’s trying to control himself right there. That is usually where I get involved,” said Boone, calling it “another growth opportunity for him, in an area where he has already grown a lot.”
