Unfortunately for neutrals, it appears that there will be little drama at the top and bottom of the table between now and the end of the season. Liverpool’s 13-point lead at the top is insurmountable, and an even bigger gap separates the promoted trio from West Ham United in 17th place.
Any excitement is likely to come from the race for European qualification, and Gameweek 33 could be pivotal in the battle. Nottingham Forest and Manchester City face difficult trips, while Newcastle United and Aston Villa clash in Saturday’s late game.
Here are 90-minute predictions for the upcoming Premier League matches.

Manchester City took a significant step toward Champions League qualification last weekend, scoring five goals against Crystal Palace, but reaching Europe’s top competition is far from guaranteed. The Cityzens are currently fifth in the table, trailing Nottingham Forest and Newcastle United, with a trip to Everton this weekend not looking easy. The Toffees are extremely difficult to beat and could derail City’s European ambitions.
Brentford and Brighton & Hove Albion both had hopes for continental qualification this season, but those have since faded. A drop in standards for the pair in recent weeks means Saturday’s race isn’t particularly important, though Thomas Frank and Fabian Hurzeler will both want to finish as high as possible to earn some extra money.
Crystal Palace had been in encouraging form before conceding ten goals in their last two games, with a midweek defeat at St James’ Park leaving the Eagles depleted of confidence. They face Bournemouth this weekend, who had been struggling for success before Monday night’s narrow victory over Fulham on the south coast.
West Ham hosts relegated Southampton in a bleak battle for the bottom of the table. The Irons are not in danger of joining the Saints in the Championship next season, but they have failed to make significant progress under Graham Potter and are now ranked 17th. They came close to securing a point at Anfield last weekend, but luck was not on their side.
Saturday’s late kick-off is arguably the most important match of the weekend, with Aston Villa facing fellow Champions League contenders Newcastle. Five consecutive Premier League victories have propelled the latter to third place, five points ahead of seventh-placed Villans, and they will be hoping to capitalise on Villa’s exhausting European exit to Paris Saint-Germain in midweek.

Chelsea appeared to be a lock to finish in the top four before the turn of the year, but their recent decline has been alarming. Enzo Maresca’s side is now chasing those ahead of them in the Champions League race, and few would be surprised if they are defeated by west London rivals Fulham this weekend. The Cottagers have recently beaten Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur at home.
Ipswich thwarted Chelsea’s European ambitions last time out, and they could hand Liverpool the title on Sunday. If they beat Arsenal and the Reds win later in the day, the race for first place will be officially over.
Unfortunately for the Tractor Boys, that will not save them from relegation, and defeating the Gunners appears highly unlikely given how the capital side dismantled Real Madrid midweek.
Liverpool will be desperate to see Ipswich win before their trip to Leicester City, but they must concentrate solely on the task at hand at the King Power Stadium. With only six points needed to win the league, the Reds will be ready to face their doomed hosts, who will be relegated if they lose to Arne Slot’s table toppers. They will be demoted if West Ham wins on Saturday and Wolverhampton Wanderers wins on Sunday.
There is little at stake in Manchester United vs Wolves other than pride, though the Old Gold can secure survival this weekend. Should they win and Ipswich fail to beat Arsenal, they will be confirmed as a Premier League team for the following season.
The Red Devils are simply hoping to avoid further embarrassment following their defeat at Newcastle last Sunday, but they will be buoyed by their incredible comeback victory over Lyon in the Europa League.

Tottenham are in a similar position to United, with nothing but honour keeping them going for the rest of the Premier League season.
Their Monday night opponents, Nottingham Forest, are in far greater need of a win in north London as they look to secure a Champions League spot, with last weekend’s defeat to Everton making for a tense finish to the season.
