SB 153 would make it more difficult for women and others to vote in Ohio

Ohio — What is going on with the attacks on birth certificates? We hope to live long lives that extend beyond that single moment in time. Things can change.

They attacked the rights of people who have medically transitioned to the opposite sex from what is listed on their birth certificates.

Now they are attacking women’s rights, particularly married women who have changed their names, but not only that.

My father legally changed our last name after my sisters were born. Fortunately for me, he did so before my birth.

However, if Ohio Senate Bill 153, “Require citizenship verification before an elector may vote,” becomes law, my sisters will need to prove their identity based on their birth certificates.

So, who’s next? Adopted people? Will adopted people under the age of 26 be denied health insurance because their health-insured parents do not match the parents on their birth certificates?

There are probably more examples of birth-certificate issues that could cause discrepancies, but I don’t want to give these legislators any more ideas about how to jeopardize and potentially remove more people’s rights.
