LUMBERTON — Brandon Young, a 2016 Lumberton High School graduate, made his Major League Baseball debut as the Baltimore Orioles’ starting pitcher. Young pitched four-plus innings against the Cincinnati Reds, giving up three runs.

Despite allowing seven hits and a walk in his first ten batters, Young was able to avoid further damage with two outs on the bases.

In the first inning, Gavin Lux hit an RBI single to put the Reds ahead 1-0. Cedric Mullins and Gunnar Henderson homered for the Orioles, though. Jake Fraley hit a solo home run to tie the game at two in the second inning.

Seranthony Domínguez, who took over for Young, won and improved his record to 2-0. Félix Bautista recorded his second save, and the game was ended with a leaping catch in left field by Ramón Laureano.
