If you make great tacos, I don’t care what you call your establishment. That’s good news for the Missouri restaurant that was recently named the best Mexican restaurant in the state despite having an unusual name.
First, good news. If you crave Mexican food and live in Missouri, the appropriately named website Love Food says you only have one option for the best.
They chose a Missouri Mexican restaurant that has eight locations across the state. There are six in the St. Louis area, and two in Kansas City.
What Mexican restaurant in Missouri was named the best?
Session Taco was named the best Mexican restaurant in Missouri. But wait. Didn’t they used to be called Mission Taco? Yes, but there was a legal dispute with the Mission Taco chip company.
So, what does “Session” have to do with tacos anyway?
For the answer, I defer to the official Session Taco website, which states that they serve “inspired Cali-Mex fare, killer cocktails, and a laid-back, West Coast vibe”. “Find your nearest Sesh” is added. Right…
I lived in California for a few years in the 1990s, so I understand the “laid-back West Coast vibe” they talk about. My best guess for why they renamed the chain “Session Taco” is so they could use the abbreviated version “Sesh” frequently. You gotta love the Californians.
