For some time now, it has been inevitable that Liverpool would win the Premier League. Before they play Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday, they might have already won the division.

How can Liverpool win the league this week?
Liverpool needs three more points to win the Premier League title. Therefore, if Arsenal loses to Crystal Palace on Wednesday, Arne Slot’s team will win the title.
However, if the Gunners defeat Palace, the Reds will need to beat Tottenham on Sunday to win the division. Also, if Mikel Arteta’s team draws with the Eagles, Liverpool would win the title with just a point against Spurs.
The Reds last won the Premier League in 2019/20, but their celebrations were hampered by the country’s lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Liverpool’s last league title in front of its fans dates back to the 1989/90 season.
It is a significant achievement for Liverpool, as many expected them to be in a transitional season following Jurgen Klopp’s departure last summer. Slot, on the other hand, deserves credit for carrying on Klopp’s legacy in the same way that Bob Paisley did at the club after Bill Shankly retired.
Liverpool’s future looks bright, with Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk extending their contracts until 2027. This is despite the fact that Trent Alexander-Arnold has not committed to the club and is expected to join Real Madrid when his contract expires at the end of the season.
When Alexander-Arnold came off the bench to score Liverpool’s winner over Leicester City last weekend, he reveled in the moment, possibly knowing it would be his final goal for the club.
What is left to be decided in the Premier League?
The relegation places are all but certain. Southampton and Leicester have been relegated. It’s only a matter of time before Ipswich Town joins them in returning to the Championship. However, the European places have yet to be determined.
The Premier League’s top five teams will advance to the Champions League. Liverpool, Arsenal, Nottingham Forest, Newcastle United, and Manchester City currently hold those positions.
Chelsea and Aston Villa, on the other hand, still have a slim chance of qualifying for Europe’s top club competition. If either Manchester United or Tottenham win the Europa League, they will gain entry into the Champions League.
England will also have two teams qualify for the Europa League, which are currently set to be Chelsea and Villa. If Newcastle qualify for the Champions League, one Premier League team should be awarded a Europa Conference League place.
The Magpies qualified for the Europa Conference League after winning the EFL Cup. If Eddie Howe’s side qualify for a higher-ranked tournament, it will be awarded to the next highest Premier League team that has not yet qualified for European competition.
We also know two of the teams that will play in the Premier League next season. Burnley and Leeds United were promoted from the Championship yesterday after the Clarets defeated Sheffield United 2-1. One more club from English soccer’s second tier will win a spot in the Premier League, but it will be determined by playoffs.
