Following a standoff in western North Carolina, a Tennessee child molestation suspect was taken into custody

HAYWOOD COUNTY, N.C. — A man wanted out of Tennessee on sexual contact with a minor charges has been apprehended following a standoff at a home in western North Carolina.

According to the Haywood County Sheriff’s Office’s Facebook page, 46-year-old Henry Dean Clark is wanted in Lincoln County, Tennessee, on several criminal charges, including sexual contact with a minor, felony unlawful possession of a weapon, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, providing a handgun to a juvenile, and failure to appear on multiple charges.

Deputies said they attempted to arrest Clark on Tuesday morning at a Sheepback Mountain home, but initial verbal commands failed to elicit his cooperation.

Deputies used chemical weapons in the afternoon, at which point Clark surrendered and was arrested.

The sheriff’s office says Clark is being held without bond in the Haywood County Detention Center under a fugitive warrant for the Tennessee charges.
