A 33-year-old woman in Florida is accused of seriously injuring a 9-year-old boy this week after allegedly beating him over the head with a kitchen pot because she was upset with how he did the dishes.

Daniela Raymond was arrested on Tuesday and charged with one count of felony aggravated child abuse causing great bodily harm, according to records reviewed by Law&Crime.

Officers from the Miami-Dade Police Department responded to a home in the 1300 block of NW 111st Street around 6 p.m. on Sunday after receiving a report of possible child abuse, according to Miami Fox affiliate WSVN.

When first responders arrived on the scene, they said they spoke with the child, who described what allegedly happened inside the home.

According to a probable cause affidavit obtained by Miami CBS affiliate WFOR, the victim told police that Raymond became angry after the child washed the dishes because she didn’t like how he finished the task.

Raymond allegedly reacted by grabbing a kitchen pot and striking him in the head, resulting in a “large laceration to his scalp,” according to WFOR.

According to Miami ABC affiliate WPLG, Raymond was allegedly dissatisfied with the severity of the punishment and “ordered” the child to place his hand on the kitchen table. Raymond allegedly used the pot to strike the child’s left hand, breaking his middle finger.

After hitting the child in the head and hand with the pot, Raymond allegedly beat him on his arms and back before kicking him in the stomach. According to the affidavit, the victim had visible bruises on his arms, back, and stomach.

Raymond participated in an interview with detectives, but her statement was reportedly redacted from the affidavit.

Authorities did not reveal Raymond’s relationship with the child.

Raymond was detained, transported, and booked into Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. She is currently being held without bond, according to records. She appeared in court on Wednesday and pleaded not guilty to the child abuse charge. She is scheduled to appear in court again on Thursday morning.

  1. These stories are so sad to read. I am sure she will get what is coming to her, both in court and when she gets placed in prison. My understanding is that child abusers are treated extra special in the big house.
