Florida – A Florida parent was arrested earlier this week and charged with attempted first-degree murder with a deadly weapon after brutally stabbing her child, 3.
The Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 call from the 27-year-old parent, later identified as R. GatIin, who reported the near-fatal assault at their family home.
Upon arrival, deputies discovered the young victim with over twenty stab wounds to her body. She was immediately taken to the hospital in critical condition, but she is expected to survive her injuries.
The child’s father provided police with home security footage that allegedly shows the woman retrieving an Iarge kitchen knife before leading her daughter into a hallway where the stabbing took place.
During her arrest, she allegedly confessed to the crime. She was booked into the county jail without bail and ordered by the court to avoid contact with minor children or witnesses.
The motive for the attack is unknown, and authorities are looking into whether mental health issues, such as postpartum depression, were a factor.
A licensed therapist emphasized the importance of raising community awareness and intervening early to prevent such tragedies.
This incident has shocked the Florida community, highlighting the need for more support and resources for people dealing with mental health issues.
