DAKOTA DUNES, S.D. – Friday marks two years since a woman was killed and her young child was believed to be missing in a Dakota Dunes apartment. The man charged with her murder and his wife are still awaiting trial this summer.
Jordan Beardshear, 23, was murdered in her apartment at the Wellington Apartments in Dakota Dunes on April 25, 2023.
Her body was discovered the following day. Her young son was thought to be missing. Authorities began searching for the boy’s father, Alfredo Castellanos-Rosales, who was 38 years old at the time.
Shortly afterwards, the boy was discovered unharmed with a family member.
On April 27th, two days after her murder, police issued an arrest warrant for Castellanos-Rosales.
Castellanos-Rosales has been charged with first-degree murder. He also faced a child endangerment charge, but it was dropped.
Following the murder, Castellanos-Rosales fled to Mexico, where he was apprehended on May 12 and turned over to US Marshals. He is currently awaiting his trial, which is set for June 12th in Union County, South Dakota.
Reyna Castellanos, Castellanos-Rosales’ wife, is also being charged in connection with the murder. Reyna Castellanos is charged with accessory to murder and two misdemeanors.
Authorities claim she helped her husband flee the country by agreeing to sell their home and give him cash.
She is on trial in Dakota County, Nebraska.
Her trial is scheduled to begin on June 18th, just a few days after that of her husband, Alfredo Castellanos-Rosales.
KTIV will cover both trials as they occur.
