SUITLAND, Md. — According to new court documents, a woman who was discovered dead, wrapped in plastic and partially covered in cement, inside a Suitland apartment had a protective order issued against the man accused of killing her and attempting to hide the body.

Sherron Turner, 44, was found dead inside the home she shared with her boyfriend, Michael McClanahan, 38.

According to the arrest warrant, police stopped by the couple’s apartment on Thursday to conduct a welfare check after receiving a call reporting that they hadn’t seen Turner since April 21.

Police discovered that a witness had overheard a loud banging and screaming coming from the couple’s unit that night.

When officers arrived, they knocked on the door but received no response. Due to a history of domestic calls to the apartment, officers forced their way inside. They discovered Turner’s body, which was reportedly wrapped in plastic and blankets and partially covered in concrete.

According to the arrest warrant, Turner’s back, face, and neck showed signs of trauma. Police also discovered empty bags of concrete mix, pry bars, and mixing bowls containing residual concrete mix.

The person who requested the welfare check informed police about Turner’s “toxic” relationship with McClanahan, as well as Turner’s repeated calls to police following physical assault and McClanahan’s violation of protective orders.

A witness told investigators that they had heard screaming before, but it was much louder on April 21. Furthermore, the witness claimed to have seen McClanahan come and go from the apartment in Turner’s car, despite Turner’s absence for several days.

McClanahan was arrested in Washington, D.C., one day after Turner’s body was discovered. During his arrest, police say he was carrying Turner’s license plates, a set of keys, and several Home Depot receipts from April 23 and 24.

“The Home Depot receipts were for purchases of multiple bags of concrete and pry bars; the same type of bags of concrete and pry bars that were located inside the [Turner’s] residence around her body,” reads the warrant for arrest.

When investigators interviewed McClanahan, he admitted to being in a relationship with Turner and stated that their involvement was “toxic.” He also admitted to previous violent domestic disputes with Turner.

However, McClanahan reportedly stated that after being arrested in March for violating a protective order issued by Turner, he told her he was “done dealing with her.”

According to detectives, McClanahan killed Turner and then fled from police in her car, which has yet to be located.

McClanahan has been charged with first and second-degree murder, as well as allegedly attempting to hide her body after she was killed. He is still in custody in Washington, DC, awaiting extradition back to Prince George’s County.
