Oklahoma — An Oklahoma mother and her daughters, who are all US citizens, were reportedly subjected to a violent and humiliating raid by federal immigration agents last week, despite the fact that they were not the intended targets.
“It was so demeaning.” The mother, using the pseudonym Marisa, told KFOR that the raid was against a family, women, and citizens.
“You literally traumatized me and my daughters for life,” she told me. “We’re going to have to go get help or get over this somehow.”
According to Marisa, a multi-agency team of agents broke into the Oklahoma City rental home where the family had recently relocated from Maryland.
The agents made the woman and her daughters go outside before they could fully change into day clothes, she claimed.
“They wanted me to change in front of all of them, in between all of them,” Marisa told the news organization KFOR. “My husband hasn’t even seen my daughter in her underwear—her own father, because it’s respectful. “You have a minor out there in her underwear.”
Agents informed the family that they had a search warrant, which named an individual who appeared to have been a previous tenant of the home, Marisa said.
Nonetheless, the officers searched the house and seized phones and much of the woman’s life savings in cash as evidence, refusing to leave a business card or provide an indication of when she would receive her property back, Marisa stated.
“I told them before they left that you took my phone. We do not have any money. “I just moved here,” she explained during her KFOR interview. “I need to feed my children.” I’ll need gas money. I need to be able to move around. Like, how can you just leave me like this? “Like an abandoned dog.”
The mother stated that the agents identified themselves as members of the FBI, US Marshals, and Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
The Marshals denied taking part in the raid, while the FBI told the outlet that it had assisted with the investigation.
The Independent contacted ICE’s parent agency, the Department of Homeland Security, for comment.
Oklahoma signed agreements with federal officials in February to enhance immigration cooperation through “Operation Guardian.”
The Trump administration and its allies’ push for increased immigration enforcement has resulted in the mistaken detention of several US citizens.
As part of the crackdown, the Trump administration has resumed pursuing “collateral arrests” of individuals who weren’t the intended target of immigration raids but were nevertheless encountered by officers.
A 2022 class action settlement restricted officers’ use of such arrests.
