HOPKINSVILLE, Ky. – A man has been charged with entering a person’s garage and stealing their belongings.

On April 21, the Christian County Sheriff’s Office Detective Division launched an investigation into a residential burglary after a homeowner reported stolen items from a vehicle parked in her attached garage near Orten Drive.

The homeowner provided surveillance footage of a suspect, who was later identified as 54-year-old Billy Sanders of Hopkinsville. According to the sheriff’s office, he was caught illegally entering the garage through a partially open door.

Sanders then removed a purse containing cash and debit/credit cards from the victim’s vehicle.

Detectives successfully identified him based on previous encounters. He has been charged with second-degree burglary.
