Two men were arrested after allegedly opening fire at a barbershop in California, killing an innocent bystander who was there with his two children to get haircuts for Easter.
According to the Fresno Police Department, Kobe Chantharangsy and Adrian Echeverria have been charged with the murder of 44-year-old Jampier Quintero.
On April 19, a fatal shooting took place at the Los Viejones Barbershop in central Fresno.
Police believe Chantharangsy was getting his hair cut when he started shooting from a barber’s chair through the cape covering his chest. It was not immediately clear what caused the violence.
Aside from Quintero, two other people were shot, but they have since been released from a nearby hospital, according to officials.
Police say Quintero had taken his children to get haircuts before Easter when the shooting occurred.
Quintero and his family moved to the United States from Caracas, Venezuela, a few years ago, seeking asylum and a better life in a safer environment, according to YourCentralValley.com, which interviewed the family.
Gabriela Lopez, Quintero’s wife, expressed relief that the suspects had been arrested.
“He’s a danger to humanity, completely,” she told me. “His face symbolizes evil. “A terrible evil.”
Police identified Chantharangsy after linking him to another shooting on April 18, which injured another man, according to police officials.
He was arrested last Saturday and charged with murder and other shooting-related offenses, according to police.
