A man in Hopkinsville is accused of drug trafficking

A Hopkinsville man was charged with drug trafficking following a report of someone pointing a gun at people on Tanglewood Drive in Hopkinsville on Wednesday night.

Hopkinsville police say they were called for 20-year-old Ja’Nahveon Lynes, who was pointing a gun at people from the window of a car.

Law enforcement conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle leaving the area and detected the odor of marijuana.

Police say a search yielded two handguns, marijuana, and cocaine bags.

The driver, Leon West, 20, was charged with possession of marijuana after allegedly admitting to having it, as well as one of the guns.

According to police, Lynes claimed ownership of the second gun, as well as the cocaine and marijuana.

Lynes was arrested and charged with possessing marijuana, trafficking cocaine, and first-degree wanton endangerment.
