The Seattle Mariners are off to a great start in 2025. So far, this year’s squad is 20-12 and leads the AL West by three games. And the Mariners made franchise history by defeating the Texas Rangers 2-1 on Saturday.

“The Seattle Mariners, who defeated the Texas Rangers 2-1, have now won eight consecutive series for the first time since 2022, winning 16 of their last 20 games.” If the season ended today, Dan Wilson would be the clear winner of the AL Manager of the Year award.
The Mariners look like legit Pennant contenders
The American League feels more open than ever in 2025, giving the Mariners an unprecedented opportunity. The franchise had never won a World Series in its 48-year history. Seattle finally broke its more than 20-year playoff drought two years ago.
But it’s a new era, and this team has the makings of a contender. Cal Raleigh, the star catcher, has been named the team’s MVP thus far. The 2024 Golden Glove winner has been a consistent power hitter throughout his career, but he has taken it to the next level in 2025.
Raleigh currently leads the league with 12 home runs. Bryan Woo is also off to a promising start from the mound. The 25-year-old is currently 4-1 with a 2.58 ERA and WHIP, ranking fourth in the MLB. The Mariners are off to a strong start, despite their young two-time All-Star, Julio Rodriguez, struggling at the plate.
Seattle will look to extend its winning streak against the Rangers on Sunday. The streak has reached six games and includes a sweep of one AL West opponent. It’s a long season, and several teams in the division are serious contenders.
Right now, the Houston Astros appear to be the most formidable threat, having won four consecutive AL West titles. The Rangers also won their first World Series in franchise history only a year ago.
It’s a long way until October, but Seattle is on the right track and needs to keep it going. As key players recover from injuries and adjust to the season, this team is expected to maintain its winning streak.
