The mother of an Indiana toddler found dead in a dresser two years ago has pleaded guilty to two charges regarding her daughter’s death.

Madison Marshall pleaded guilty on May 1 to one count of neglect resulting in death and one count of neglect of a dependent, according to court records reviewed by PEOPLE.

According to Fox 23, Marshall faces up to 25 years in prison for the former charge and two years for the latter. Other neglect charges are likely to be dropped at sentencing.

Marshall’s plea agreement, obtained by Fox 23, WRTV, and WTHR, requires her to testify against her co-defendant and ex-boyfriend Roan Waters.According to reports, Waters will stand trial in June on charges of murder, neglect resulting in death, neglect of a dependent, and battery.

According to court documents obtained by KOCO 5, Marshall claimed Waters killed her 1-year-old daughter, Oaklee Snow, in February 2023 and hid her body in a dresser drawer in an abandoned home in Morgantown, Indiana.

According to WRTV, Marshall previously admitted to investigators that Waters routinely abused the toddler for minor offenses.

Oaklee was last seen on Feb. 9, 2023, being carried out of a “crack house” by her mother in Indianapolis, according to reports from the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office.

“They stated that she was either sleeping or unconscious. “She was not moving,” J.T. Palmer of the sheriff’s office said at the time. “She was wrapped in a blanket, and the mother said, ‘I’ve got to get her to the hospital. “She has been hurt.”

However, Palmer stated that officials “know that [Oaklee] did not make it to the hospital that night.”

Prior to that, on or around Jan. 19, 2023, Marshall left her Cromwell, Okla., home with Oaklee and her 7-month-old son Coleton, as well as her ex-boyfriend, 25-year-old Roan Waters, Palmer said.

Oaklee’s biological father reported his daughter and son missing, claiming that “Marshall and Waters took his children from his home and were allegedly heading to Indianapolis,” according to prosecutors.

Palmer claimed that Coleton was abandoned on the couch of a house in Indianapolis. Someone at the house contacted the authorities, and Coleton was reunited with his father.

In March 2023, the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office charged Marshall and Waters with multiple counts related to Oaklee’s death.
