Undercover phone calls released today by pro-life activist group Live Action show that Planned Parenthood clinics in multiple states provide cross-sex hormonal treatments to minors as young as 16 with little parental or medical supervision.
The organization is now urging Congress to defund Planned Parenthood of hundreds of millions of dollars in taxpayer funds.
Live Action conducted an undercover investigation in which a woman posing as a 16-year-old minor called dozens of Planned Parenthood locations and requested “gender-affirming care.” At least seven facilities told her that they would prescribe cross-sex hormones at her first visit.
In several cases, Planned Parenthood assured the caller that she could meet with a provider virtually and receive cross-sex hormones as soon as the same day, despite the person posing as a minor claiming they had only recently begun considering changing her sex.
Facilities in Minnesota and Oregon said they could schedule the minor within a few days or even the same day.
Five facilities stated that no prior therapy, mental health clearance, or documentation was required for her to receive cross-sex hormones.
Cross-sex hormonal treatments, such as taking testosterone or estrogen, are intended to change the body’s characteristics to match a person’s “gender identity.” Aside from altering the body’s natural makeup and functions, cross-sex hormonal treatments can cause a number of negative side effects, including permanent infertility.
According to Live Action President Lila Rose, the investigation reveals that Planned Parenthood is putting vulnerable children through irreversible hormone treatments with little medical oversight.
“These dangerous drugs can sterilize, stunt growth, and leave permanent scars. This isn’t healthcare. “It is child abuse, and it must stop,” she stated.
Live Action urges Congress to defund Planned Parenthood’s federal funding.
“Planned Parenthood receives over $700 million in taxpayer funding each year. “That is a disaster, and it must end,” Rose stated. “It’s time for Congress and the president to act and defund this abusive corporation of the $700 million they receive from taxpayers every year.”
Fox News Digital reported that House Republicans are considering eliminating federal funding for Planned Parenthood as part of a bill to advance President Donald Trump’s agenda.
Two House Energy and Commerce Committee sources told Fox News Digital that the move is being considered as lawmakers seek at least $1.5 trillion in spending cuts to offset the cost of Trump’s tax cuts.
Last week, House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., stated that Republicans plan to target “big abortion” during the budget reconciliation process.
