Christian County Drug Arrest Follows Traffic Stop

A Hopkinsville man was charged with drug possession and arrested on multiple warrants following a traffic stop on Eagle Way in Christian County on Saturday afternoon.

Christian County Sheriff’s Deputy Ryan Lassner claims he stopped a truck driven by 47-year-old Rickie Atwell for an equipment violation, during which Atwell gave him a false name.

As Lassner checked the name Atwell provided, he got out of his truck and attempted to flee, but was apprehended quickly.

He was arrested and charged with possession of meth for the third time, resisting arrest, possession of a license, fleeing or evading police in the third degree, persistent felony offender, and excessive window tint.
