A Hopkinsville man is facing multiple charges after allegedly driving into a crowd at a Broad Street party on Friday night, injuring one person and sending him to a Nashville hospital.

According to a Hopkinsville Police Department report, 46-year-old Mark Ware of Hopkinsville is in custody after allegedly backing into a parked car on Broad Street shortly after 11 p.m. Friday.

After hitting the parked vehicle, he allegedly accelerated away from the road and into a field where several people were sitting under a tent.

A female victim was struck and then pinned under the vehicle, suffering numerous physical injuries. She was still pinned when officers arrived on the scene; she would be flown to a Nashville hospital for treatment.

Ware reportedly attempted to flee the scene but was stopped by others.

He was arrested and charged with first-degree assault, first-degree wanton endangerment, first-degree mischief, leaving the scene of an accident without rendering aid, and multiple traffic violations.
