Community and Development Services has scheduled three informational meetings to assist Hopkinsville residents and property owners affected by recent flooding.

The meetings at the Hopkinsville Municipal Center will be held at:

  • 6 p.m. Wednesday, May 14
  • 2 p.m. Friday, May 16
  • 4 p.m. Wednesday, May 21

According to a press release from Mayor James R. Knight Jr.’s office, the meetings will provide information on the building and floodplain permits required to repair or rebuild flood-damaged structures.

“City staff will be available to explain the permitting process, answer frequently asked questions and ensure residents have the resources they need for safe and compliant rebuilding,” according to a release from the municipality.

The city will waive all permit fees for flood damage repairs.

Hopkinsville received approximately 14 inches of rain over a five-day period in early April. Several downtown businesses were flooded, as were residential areas like Givens Addition and Donna Drive.
