CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – The Clarksville Police Department has announced the arrest of a man accused of killing his wife and father-in-law in 2021.
According to CPD, 35-year-old Matthew David Konen, a former Nashville paramedic, was booked into Montgomery County Jail after being arrested in Sumner County on Thursday morning.
The Montgomery County Grand Jury indicted Konen for the deaths of his wife and father-in-law during its May session. Detective Kilby’s evidence led to an indictment on two counts of first-degree murder.
Konen was booked into jail with a $1,000,000 bond.
District Attorney General Robert Nash announced in October 2023 that the charges against the former paramedic had been dropped. According to DA Nash, the State of Tennessee entered a Nolle Prosequi, indicating that it will not prosecute Matthew Konen at this time.
“If, however, further investigation develops proof establishing proof beyond a reasonable doubt, the charges may be reinstituted by way of the Grand Jury process,” Nash said in an email to WSMV4. “There are no other persons of interest in this case.”
In May 2021, the Clarksville Police Department charged Konen with two counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of Rachel Konen (his wife) and David Rodgers (his father-in-law), who died in January of that year.
