Christian County Reveals Consolidated High School's New Brand

Christian County Public Schools unveiled the branding for its new consolidated high school Thursday morning, marking an important step in a nearly four-year process.

The new school, which will serve students from Hopkinsville High School and Christian County High School, is scheduled to open in the 2026-2027 academic year.

Superintendent Chris Bentzel described the unveiling as “a big day,” but stressed that it is only one component of a much larger effort.

“We’re here today to establish the brand, which means a variety of things. It’s clothing, a logo, and a mascot, but it’s more to me than that,” Bentzel explained. “This is only one step.

It’s a big day, but just one step. It’s a step in the right direction. “We have more work to do.”

The event was livestreamed to schools throughout the district and included a 90-second video introducing the new color scheme, logo, and mascot. Bentzel stated that the brand represents a new beginning while honoring the legacy of both schools.

“This brand represents unity. It brings two schools and our community together. “It combines great traditions,” he explained. “We do not want to forget those traditions. We want to chart a new course, a new path forward for our students.”

Bentzel added that, while branding is important, the focus is still on students and their future.

“It’s not so much about me or the adults or the people who came before us, though we want to honor them every day and recognize that we’re here because of their efforts. We want to pave the way for those who come after us, our students, and the next generation,” he stated.

The branding process required extensive collaboration between students and the apparel company BSN.

“It’s been about an almost a four-year process, a lot of input, a lot of discussion, a lot of support from our students, and in collaboration with BSN, we feel like we put out a very strong brand with color schemes, mascots, and all the other side items that go with it,” Bentzel told me.

As part of Friday’s announcement, the district introduced Mr. Ken Carver as the new high school’s executive principal.

“We’re fortunate enough to introduce Mr. Carver, and he’ll hopefully brand the brand and put it to life, so we’re excited,” Bentzel told me.
